Invitation to the interactive lecture "Human rights topic in film history"

The Democratic Initiatives Incubator in partnership with Lithuanian Scientific Society invites you to an interactive lecture “Human rights topic in film history”, which will be held on August 27 at 18.00. The lecture will last for an hour and a half. Venue of the lecture: J. Basanavičiaus St. 6, LT-01118, Vilnius. The event is primarily aimed at forced migrants in Vilnius and anyone interested in human rights. The lecture will be held in English, with translation into Ukrainian available for those interested.

This interactive lecture presents and examines human rights topic cases in film history. The lecture will present cases, excerpts from the films, and will end with a discussion about the perspectives of the human rights topic in future films. 

Speakers of the event:

Lukas Kacinauskas is an up-and-coming film director and screenwriter from Lithuania. Before taking up film directing, he started out as an actor. He received bachelor’s and master’s degrees in film directing at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater. His debut film “I Was Max” (2021) was screened at various European and American film festivals, including the prestigious Karlovy Vary Film Festival. In addition to his creative activities, he consults on screenwriting and editing. Moreover, he teaches film directing in the non-formal education sector. Among other things, he works as a junior programmer at the Vilnius Short Film Festival.

 Nazarii Boiarskyi, human rights activist and non-formal education trainer, member of the Council of Europe’s Training Pool, independent expert of the Eastern European Citizenship Education Network (EENCE), member of Lithuanian Scientific Society.

The event will be held as part of the Citizenship Education Caravan in Lithuania and Poland. The aim of the Caravan is to support civic education providers in the EU’s Eastern Partnership region who are actively working to build a civil society capable of promoting and defending the values of democracy. The Caravan also aims to provide an opportunity to participate in civic education events for people who are forced to move abroad.
